As someone who grew up heavy in the Christian church, I was taught that God is the answer to everything. That he wouldn’t put more on you than you could bear and that through God all things were possible.So I would have to agree that religion is a key component in fighting against oppression, just by simply having faith that God would end and protect you. Although religion isn’t the only answer or component to fighting oppression it sure does play role in it. However then this brings me to think, what do the nonreligious do to fight oppression, is it just there lost because they aren’t religious or believing? Like in 1984 since there wasn’t religion what is it that Winston could have done in efforts to make his rebellion successful, maybe having faith that things would work out for him could have helped.
