The American higher education system is dystopian because each school is selective of who is allowed to go there. You have to be smart enough or athletic, wanted to get into certain universities. So you could imagine getting accepted into this place that you “dreamed” of going to and it being the place you’ve always imagined. But why are we paying thousands of dollars to further our education? Why are we paying to get accepted into these places? We pay a $50 application fee before we are accepted anywhere. College makes it seem like only the best of the best can go to college, and you have to be worthy enough, which reminds me of natural selection. The ones that do not fit in get left behind while the rest further their education.
