When working in a group the comfortability level is an important aspect to consider. I personally have a lot of experience working in group settings, therefore I am more comfortable exercising my voice and opinions as opposed to someone who doesn’t have that experience or is just ambiguous to new situations. It took me a while to grow in the position that I am in and I still tend to get nervous when conversing with a group of people that I have never met but, I have learned the more familiar you are with the individuals you are working with, the more comfortable you’ll be overall. For example, when I was first hired to AT&T I was shy and timid, I stayed to myself because I felt out of place and that affected how I asked for help and even approached customers. However, once I opened my shell and created a bond with my co-workers, I was less reluctant to ask questions and even increased my sales. Being comfortable within a group is very important and testing your ability to engage with other people is a great way to grow your comfortability levels.
Like many other young adults, I am active on various social media platforms: Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, etc. and have built my following network of people who enjoy similar content as myself as well as the content I post. In light of this, I have done a few campaigns and advertising that use social media as a tool to engage large audience groups. My mom has created an app known as ‘The Black Lists’ , and part of my job in helping her is catering to the marketing factor (knowing times to post the correct hashtags, making sure the content is appealing to the audience) of the business to help increase downloads. After creating new flyers and ad campaigns we were able to generate 5,000 new downloads in a span of 4 days. Social media is not a hard tool to use but it is very beneficial when you try to read the audience that is on the platform and predict how they will react to your content. For example I may want to post more pictures with Instagram with less hashtags than I would do Twitter.
