I definitely believe that there are traces of Ur-fascism present today. Fascism involves people being led by a dictator with absolute power, who forcibly suppresses them. However, I believe that fascism today exists in a much different way than what we might imagine when we think of the word fascism. For example, in the United States, a direct fascist state does not inherently exist. However, fascist ideas lie in many aspects of our culture. For example, the notion that a central cultural idea exists throughout the majority of the whole population and any ideas that fall in contrary to that main idea is seen as dangerous. A large aspect of fascism involves the rejection of new ideas. That concept exists heavily throughout American culture.
