My Take On Group Projects

When it comes to group projects I generally tend to be excited about them. I love working with others and hearing new ideas or perspectives. Teamwork as a whole tends to show my strengths and weaknesses, allowing me to develop new skills in areas I wouldn’t have recognized prior to the project. That being said, I do have some issues when it comes to group projects because of many factors really. I tend to be on a pretty weird schedule, so finding time where I am able to contribute to the project while others are available is hard. I make sure to let my group members know beforehand that I’m not taking advantage of them and I will add my part, even if that may be at one in the morning. Those who have worked with me before know I’ll get things done, but if it’s someone’s first time it may be worrying if they don’t see any additions before they go to sleep. I also tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, so allowing others to take on roles without me interjecting is hard, but I have been working on it these few years and getting better at allowing others to do their part.

When it comes to technology and presenting things to a larger audience, I think I’m pretty good at it. In terms of public speaking, I do get anxious but I’m consistently working on it. However, when it comes to incorporating technology it is always my strong suit. Powerpoints are my all time favorite thing to do. It allows me to be creative and it can be therapeutic in a way. I’ve also learned ways to fully transform a powerpoint and actually make it engaging.  I’ve had experience with many other formats though, such as Prezi, stop motion, animations, tv/movie reenactments, voice overs, etc. So finding new ways to connect with an audience, rather than the classic powerpoint is something I do try incorporating depending on the project.
