This week, I learned what intellectual property is and how detrimental it is in the process of creative production. Intellectual property is when one’s work has rights such as a trademark or copyright. This protects the individual’s creativity from being utilized by another person. So far in our podcast production, we have developed a script and decided what audio we would like to incorporate. In the beginning of our podcast, we planned to play the sound of the town bell from the cinema. However, after learning about intellectual property, we planned to find a bell sound that was offered on the internet with no copyright laws. In addition, we also gathered information from internet sources to further explain the dystopian aspects of The Lottery. To prevent plagiarism, we paraphrased all information and included all websites in the works cited.
