Dystopia is a society or culture where freedoms, individuality, creativity, privacy, and religion are restricted or heavy limited often leading to dullness and /or misery.
Dystopias have been a concept that has been talked about throughout human history. I would argue that even today dystopias exist. North Korea is a prime example of the closest thing to a modern day dystopia. Citizens of North Korea are limited in who they speak too, where they go, what they eat, what they believe in, exccc…. This leads to a lack of creativity, personality, and individuality in these people, it takes away what defines them as individuals subjecting everyone who lives in North Korea to sameness. By my definition places like North Korea are a prime example of dystopia.
