Podcast Production Update

My podcast group is so far adhering to the copyright rules. We were thinking about incorporating audio clips into our podcast. So we will collectively go back and check to make sure the video was not copyrighted, and if we use the video, we would not be violating copyright laws either. So far, we have four videos that we would like to use in our podcast. After double-checking the video, we can also give credit to the clips in our podcast, so viewers know that this is not our video and we do not own any rights to it.

These are some precautions that I think are necessary to make sure that my podcast group is not violating any copyright laws. Under the doctrine of “fair use,” the law allows the use of portions of copyrighted work without permission from the owner. Copyright rights are limited by the doctrine of “fair use,” under which specific uses of copyrighted material for, but not limited to, criticism, commentary, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research may be considered fair. Our podcast assignment can possibly fall underneath the research category. Therefore, as long as we still give credit, it is fair use for us.
