Working in a group has always been difficult for me. I often either find myself doing all the world or wanting to do all the work because I like things done in a certain way. Like people always say, if you want something done right then do it yourself. I am that person. I am comfortable working with others. If I need to and it is required, I have no issue doing it. However, given the choice of working in a group or working by myself, I typically choose the latter. I had a pleasant experience with my podcast group for the most part. I think we created a great episode and it turned out great.
This was my first time ever doing something like this. It was much harder than I expected. Since the group is random, we don’t really know each other or have that level of comfortability with each other to be able to organically produce an ongoing conversation about a particular subject. Hearing podcasts online going so smoothly, I now wonder if it is all scripted or if they’re just really good at what they do. The script was sort of the easy part. The difficult part was getting things to flow in the right way without us interrupting each other and voices overlapping and sounding all jumbled up. We used Zencastr which is actually a pretty nice website to use. I edited all the audio and clips using Audacity which is a program I had never used before. It was sort of difficult editing audio and sound but I made it through thankfully. I think the hard part was effectively getting our point across when people may not know what we are even talking about. But I think our podcast turned out really good and I’m more than happy with the outcome.
