When considering what type of thinker I am, I think that I align most with that of an anti-anti-utopian thinker. Anti-anti-utopian thinkers believe that utopias are not bad and that there is a possibility that things can get better and we should try for them. I am not optimistic enough to say that I am a utopian directly and there is a reason for that. I think directly utopian, is a very optimistic outlook on our progression as a society.
I believe that there is a possibility for us to do better and I also believe that we have the ability to do so, I just don’t believe that we will. The way that today’s society functions is not the best. I believe currently, there are many issues at hand that we all know about, but not much is being done about it. For example, the lack of healthcare, and shelter for many people all around the world. The country has the resources to provide the homeless with shelter or programs, but it is not being done, and this is because they do not want to. The government benefits from those that do not have the means to support themselves.
I believe that things would only happen if people really wanted them to, and it would have to be the majority. This is why I align as an anti-anti-utopian thinker because I agree with the idea of a utopia, and I have positive thoughts about the future. My skepticism, lies in the fact, that this progression would only take place, by relying on those who have the ability to change to make the change. I believe that over time this will happen. Fore example , a law can be in place guaranteeing veterans shelter and healthcare after war. Even the establishment of free healthcare can make this progression possible.
