Climate Change IS Oppression

Climate change is one of the biggest issues facing us today, and it is a problem that has largely been caused by human activity throughout the centuries. This is because man-made greenhouse gas emissions are causing the planet to warm at an unprecedented rate, leading to rising sea levels, more frequent and severe weather events, and displacement of humans and animals.

While climate change affects everyone on the planet, it is important to recognize that it is an issue of oppression, especially when it is caused by the powerful people in society. Those who have the most power and influence in our world are often the ones who have contributed the most to climate change, and they are also the ones who are least likely to experience its most devastating effects. This is seen with celebrities flying private jets to places under a 30 minute drive, which needlessly adds to the problem.

Climate change is already causing a lot of harm to people in vulnerable communities around the world, from rising sea levels that are displacing entire populations to droughts and floods that are destroying crops and causing famine. This is especially dangerous is populous cities and countries. Take India and their deadly floods for example. These communities have done little to contribute to the problem of climate change, yet they are the ones who are bearing the brunt of its effects.

Meanwhile, those who have the most power and influence in our world are often shielded from the worst effects of climate change. They have the resources and infrastructure to protect themselves from rising sea levels and extreme weather events, and they are often able to use their wealth and influence to lobby for policies that will make the problem worse.

This is why man-made climate change is a form of oppression. It is a problem that is largely caused by the powerful people in society, and it disproportionately affects those who are already the most vulnerable and marginalized. It is a problem that is driven by greed and self-interest, and it is perpetuated by a system that values profits over people.
